Support Kid Ramos

Particulary crappy news from Delta Groove Records...

"Kid Ramos was recently diagnosed with cancer. He is up for the battle and has faith that he can beat this thing. Let's ALL pray together for Kid to beat this cancer… We're a tough bunch and Kid is a fighter. Let him join the ranks of our friends like Candye Kane, Lynwood Slim, Juke Logan and so many that had the courage, strength, support and faith to come out the other side of a life-threatening situation. I'm sure that there will be benefits all over the world to help Kid and Linda Ramos with medical expenses through this fight.

Kid will be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for the next year, followed by surgery and additional chemotherapy. This is going to be a long, hard and expensive battle, but we have faith and are confident that Kid will come out of this a winner. Anyone who would like to organize a benefit for Kid in their city, state or country is urged to do so. Delta Groove Music, Kid's currant record label, will support any organized benefit by getting the word out via their web site, email blasts and Facebook pages."

We've long been fans of Kid's here at Bluesinlondon, and in the interview we did with him a few years back he came across as a really nice chap too. Seems like he could do with a bit of support from his fans here in London too...

Anybody who wants to make a donation to help him pay his medical bills can do so here:

You can also do yourself, and Kid, a favour by buying his records (if you buy from these buttons Amazon gives us a small commission - no extra cost to you - which we'll pass onto the medical fund):

More depressing news in the passing of Nick Curran, aged just 35. Anyone who saw him with the Fabulous Thunderbirds when they came to London a few years back will know what an exciting performer he was. His own records were a real breath of fresh air - although he was a master of blues and R&B styles he wasn't afraid to challenge the cliches and try something different - check out his great version of the Stooges 'No Fun".
