Art Wood All-Stars speacial tribute gig with proceeds going
Art Wood, vocalist of The Artwoods, Alexis Korner, and The Art
Wood All-Stars, (and older brother of Ronnie Wood), passed away in
November 2006 from Prostate Cancer. On 7 July 2008, Art would have been
71 years old, so The Eel Pie Club is hosting a birthday party in his
memory, with profits and a raffle to benefit The Prostate Cancer Charity. Features a special line-up of ‘The Art Wood All-Stars’, led by Pete French (Leaf Hound, ex Atomic Rooster and Cactus) plus Mick Avory (The Kinks), Don Craine and Keith Grant (Downliners Sect), Dave Lennox (ex Blodwyn Pig), Ray Majors (ex Mott The Hoople) and Luke Rayner (Leaf Hound) plus special guests.

Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir
Well, they're not a choir and they don't play gospel, but they are apparently Seasick Steve's favourite band. Also, apparently, everyone one at the gig will get a free CD - 'Balling The Jack' - compilation chokka with alt.blues goodies, featuring the likes of Nick Cave, Captain Beefheart, Diamanda Galas, Tom Waits and RL Burnside. This is to celebrate the launch of Balling The Jack Records, whose first release is The Agnostics’ fantastic new album, Ten Thousand, due out on Aug 11th.
