Mike Dowling advance tickets
Giuitar virtuoso Mike
Dowling (USA) is
on his annual UK Tour with an exclusive London appearance is at Brooks
Blues Bar at the Green Note Café-Bar on Thursday
7 June.
In a career spanning four decades, Mike Dowling has paid his dues as
side man, session player, bandleader and now solo performer and Grammy
award-winning composer. His influences are American roots music and jazz – from
the traditional Piedmont style fingerpicking of Mississippi John Hurt
and swing jazz legends like the great George Barnes, he nevertheless
had developed his own style which he translates fluently to arch top,
flat top and resonator guitars alike. From bottleneck blues on
a well worn National to swing interpretations of jazz greats – Mike
can do it all.
His repertoire of early blues, swing, rag-time and originals coupled
with an engaging voice and self-deprecating wit have captivated fans
of acoustic music throughout the US and Europe. He is a much sought-after
teacher, conducting master-classes throughout the USA and UK.
Their new album 'Flat Footed' is nearly finished too, so look out
for more details here soon.
Redmouth TV
Our Man in Alabama, Eric Gebhardt has been busy lately. His new
CD is
almost ready for release and sounding wicked - look out for our review
here. He's also recently taken to the stage with a new band. Says Eric
"I heard that someone around town described it as a near religious experience.
We practiced 3 times and got up there with a 6 song set and blew out
in Ramones time, got off, hit the bar and people were just left with
their jaws to the floor. Hahaha"
Not only that, he's been on TV too. Check out the accompanying clip of
him doing one of the standout tracks off the new record on a Muscle Shoals
station. Damn he's good!
