Changes to Blues at The Green Note!

With Electric blues jams running pretty much every night in this fair city and after several years of running the Jam at Green Note, we're taking the opportunity to try out something new. From now on Blues at The Green Note is going acoustic, capturing the mood of a rural house frolic rather than the electric inner-city.

We hope this will appeal to musicians and singers who might not otherwise get to play at electric jams - mandolin pickers, banjo frailers, harmonica blowers, quills, washboards, jugs... we hope they can all fit in. Obviously we want the standard to be as high as possible and entertaining for those listening, so if you have just whittled your first fife then you might want to come down and listen before sitting in.

A small group of musicians will host the evening and welcome jammers on stage to sing and play some old favourites and join in on some new material too. Think pre-war, back to the golden age of country blues: Tommy Johnson, Sleepy John Estes, Mississippi Sheiks, Big Bill Broonzy and that glorious Bluebird sound...

We will be using just instruments and a couple of microphones to keep it intimate, so come down and help us create London's best acoustic Blues night at one of London's best acoustic venues

"What about piano?"
We're hoping to include a keyboard in the line-up but cannot guarantee it at this point. If you do a mean Otis Spann and want to come down it might be best to get in touch first

"Can I do my own stuff?"
Yes, but please be aware that it is still a blues jam and not an open mic. People will be encouraged to back each other up and play their socks off.

"Wait, does this mean guitarists are not welcome?!"
Of course not, guitarists are welcome, we just hope they can bring an acoustic or a resonator and play unplugged at the same volume as everyone else!
